After 220 years, two brothers finally find the Oak Island treasure!

At first glance, Oak Island, a small, unassuming island off the southern coast of Nova Scotia in Canada, doesn’t seem all that special. But if you take a closer look, you’ll find that over 50 books have been written about it. It’s caught the attention of famous historical figures and has been the subject of countless documentaries. So, why is that? The truth is, this quiet island has been suspected for over 200 years of hiding a legendary treasure. The legend of a mysterious gold mine has drawn countless treasure hunters and sparked never-ending fascination.

The Leggins brothers, Rick and Marti La Gina, were always fascinated by the treasure myth. But what’s the real secret of Oak Island, and how did the Leggins brothers manage to uncover something almost unbelievable that every previous treasure hunter missed? Let’s dive into this exciting topic together and get to the heart of the Oak Island treasure. But before we start, have you ever heard of an ancient treasure that was discovered centuries later? Leave a like, hit subscribe, and tell us all about it in the comments!

The most interesting and surprising stuff we’ll cover at the top: the birth of a myth. Before Kailand was settled by Europeans in 1605, it was home to the Mi’kmaq people. Then, toward the end of the 18th century, exactly in 1795, a legend about a treasure was born that still fascinates people today. According to the legend, a 16-year-old lumberjack named Daniel McGinnis stumbled upon a man-made round hole in the ground near a pit. The teenager noticed some old rope remnants and a branch decorated with strange carvings. He reported his discovery…

John Smith’s two friends, Antoni and another guy, who were happy to join the adventure, first brushed away some shale, which was pretty unusual since there actually wasn’t any on the island. The trio had ended up inside a hard layer of clay. Digging further was tougher, but at about three meters deep, the young men came across a row of wooden beams that someone had carefully placed and anchored into the pit’s walls. Unfortunately, there was nothing underneath except…

The ground and a second layer of logs, which lay dormant about 9 meters deep, only revealed natural clay soil. Even though they gave up at that time, they didn’t quit that easily. A few years later, John Smith bought the land and they investigated this mysterious shaft again. During the process, the men came across a bundle of rotting coconut fibers, which most likely didn’t come from Canada. But the most important clue was hiding 30 meters below the surface—a large shale slab containing many…

A group found some mysterious symbols and decided to take the plate with them and continue digging the next day. But the next morning, they were shocked to find the hole had filled with water. Since all attempts to pump the water out failed and they ran out of money, the story of the supposed pirate treasure was forgotten for decades. There were theories and speculations, but what could the treasure actually be? Maybe a massive chest overflowing with shiny loot? Some people believe that…

There might be hidden jewels of Marie Antoinette here, while others suspect that secret manuscripts are hidden there that could prove Francis Bacon was the real mastermind behind Shakespeare’s works. The fact that there’s something to this treasure story is backed up by some incredible finds uncovered over the years. These include an anchor that Williams Chapel discovered in a tunnel in the late 1920s and a 250-year-old Akkadian axe. On top of that, treasure hunters have found parts of a kerosene lamp and a mining pick. But the question is, why are all these things…

The artifacts were found in the exact same spot, which was overlooked. Why would anyone choose Oak Island to bury treasure? We can answer that question if we look at the legend in its historical context—wars and pirates. At the time the island was discovered, there were many wars and conflicts going on, including the Seven Years’ War in North America. So, it’s possible that some people fled to Oak Island to escape the battles—those who wanted to hide their wealth far away from the fighting.

They found the perfect spot to hide their loot and stay safe, but pirates couldn’t just go unnoticed. The Golden Age of Piracy is dated between 1690 and 1730. Small islands like this one were perfect for stashing treasure and gathering essentials like wood and water. Notable treasure hunters were drawn here too. Don’t think the Kailand cliff only attracts random crowds. A certain Franklin Dirusweld decided to join Captain Henry’s expedition back in 1909.

And to reach the bottom of Roosevelt’s interest didn’t fade even after he was elected president of the United States. It’s said that he followed the search for those treasures for the rest of his life. But if we fast forward a few decades, we come across the Laginarti brothers mentioned at the start of this story. They spent many years trying to uncover the secrets of the island, and although they didn’t make much progress at first, it seems their latest expeditions took an unexpected turn. What’s more,

The brothers made some major recent discoveries on Oak Island that could finally lead to uncovering the hidden treasure like never before. Ricky Martin had dreamed of finding the legendary treasure since he was a kid. In 2006, they decided to dedicate their whole daily lives to the quest. So, the siblings bought a 50% stake in Oak Island Tours, which included both the land on the island and all the treasure found there. This was all part of their treasure hunting efforts.

They were supposed to be captured on film for the reality show “Curse of Iceland” and shown to millions of viewers in 2014. The first big shock happened when the Lagina brothers found a 17th-century Spanish coin. Following the motto “where there’s one coin, others might be nearby,” they kept digging. But instead of finding a treasure of coins, they came across something else just as amazing—a sword that most likely dates back to Roman times. If that’s true, it would mean the Romans set foot on…

Thousands of years ago on American soil, the Oak Island treasure might be way older and more valuable than we first thought. Exciting discoveries and a fresh look at some other breathtaking finds by the Lagina brothers suggest that it’s probably just a matter of time before the treasure mystery is finally solved. So far, these discoveries don’t just give us a sneak peek at hidden riches—they also tell us a lot about the island and its historic visitors. For example, they found a valuable jewel-encrusted brooch near Daniel’s old house.

So, did the original explorers actually find more than they claimed? What’s more, at the western end of the island, treasure hunters came across two 14th-century blacksmith tools. The team recognized signs of intense mining on the island. And the Templars? One of the most famous finds made by Marty and Rick was a human bone. Surprisingly, analysis showed that the bone belonged to someone from the Middle East. The mystery that remains unsolved is how the bone could have gotten there.

Why Oak Island, and why was Marti buried there? He linked this fascinating discovery to the legendary Knights Templar. What at first sounds like a wild claim actually has solid backing, thanks to the finding of a coin with the Templar cross. According to the brothers’ story, the Templars gathered huge wealth in the Middle Ages, which was kept in forts all over Europe. Finding that coin makes you imagine that the legendary Templar treasure might be lying somewhere asleep on Oak Island.

The unique cross found on the island also seems to support this theory. However, alternative views see it not as a classic Templar cross, but as a depiction of the Punic goddess Tanit. It’s just a matter of time. So, did the Lagina brothers find the mysterious treasure on Ouk Island? Probably—they’re pretty close. The team lowered sonar equipment into a shaft drilled back in the ’70s, over 70 meters deep, and discovered an underground chamber. But that’s not all—the gathered data shows the chamber is rectangular in shape, and there’s more to it.

It contains two medium-sized rectangular structures, and if that wasn’t enough, the team also found two suspicious tunnels—one of which might actually lead to a hidden treasure vault. Only time will tell if treasure hunters will finally come across Francis Drake’s riches, the Templar treasure, a British war chest, or even the lost manuscripts of Sir Francis Bacon. So, to sum it up, we can only hope that the Oak Island curse is just an amazing legend.

To find the treasure, 7 people have to die. So far, 6 have died during the search. Now, we’re curious about what you think—do you believe the Lagina brothers will find the treasure on the island? And what exactly do you think they might discover there? Drop your comments below! Don’t forget to give us a thumbs up and subscribe if you enjoyed today’s video.
