From having to overcome several challenges dealing with the equipment
so that they could meet their lofty target for the season
to eventually shocking the world with how much gold they eventually extract from the mines in Alaska.
Here’s how Parker Schnibble and his team blew our minds
with their recent gold rush discoveries.
Our season in total: 566.
We broke the 5,000 mark, guys. Cheers.
Hey, that’s pretty cool, man.
As ever, Parker Schnebel and his crew have been scurrying all the mines they can get access to in Alaska.
That is the only way they can get to all the gold that they could dream of.
Interestingly enough, we run into Parker and his crew
as their search for this gold leads to the discovery of something that truly blows the mind.
Could this be something that could be millions of years old?
Or is this a case of finding one of the most unique gold nuggets one could ever dream of?
This interesting discovery occurred when Parker and his crew were 10 weeks into one of their seasons out there in the mines of Alaska
as they were out there working on how to get all the gold they could get their hands on.
We’re hoping to do 1,000 ounces here.
We have a lot of stripping to do though,
so in the meantime, weāve just been stockpiling old drift tailing.
So hopefully there’s lots of gold in them.
They soon came to realize that they were faced with an obstacle
that was disturbing enough to bring their season to an end.
This was problematic for the crew’s goal of extracting 450 troy ounces of gold at that point in the season.
This would help them make as much as $800,000āalmost 1,000 oz a week.
Almost 1,000 oz a week. That is crazy. I like that.
Yeah, that’s wild. Imagine what Parker and the crew could do with all that money.
At the very least, they can get all the essentials they need
to continue with their operations out there in the mines.
This turns our attention to Chris Dumit and Jacob Mccclure, too.
Rather important members of Parker’s team.
Chris can be considered important to the team
because he’s in charge of working with two of the team’s important machines, Lucifer and Big Red,
the wash plants that are used to separate gold from dirt.
On the other hand, Jacob is the new recruit
who is in charge of cleaning up dirt mounds,
while also making sure that everything else in the camp runs smoothly.
As you can imagine, this is a lot of work for the pair,
and as such, they would probably love it if all their machines were working properly at all times.
Alas, this brings us to the disturbing problem that Parker and the crew have to deal with
just 2 months or so into this season.
You see, while they were at work, the team found that Big Red was experiencing some problems.
You’d know, I play put some wet material on the belt and I noticed that it was all spilling over the sides there.
Upon some investigations, the team found that the machine’s conveyor belt had gotten stuck
due to some dirt that got caught up in it in time.
The team realized that it was causing some issues downstream.
And this was bad news because this made it difficult for the team to gather gold going forward.
As you can imagine, it proved to be terrible news for the team
as their goal of extracting 430 troy ounces of gold from the mines they were working in was in jeopardy.
In order to overcome this challenge, the team realized that they were going to have to shut Big Red down
so that they could manually clear the blockage that was causing their machine’s conveyor belt to jam.
As you can imagine, this was no easy task,
and as such, they had to take the utmost care to make sure that they do not get injured
as they work together to achieve this goal.
Yeah, we got everything away from the rollers. Best case scenario: everything fires up.
All right, moment of truth.
As much as they knew that they had to be cautious, they must have been anxious
because they realized that they would be losing money due to the time that they had to spend fixing their machine.
Chris and Jacob must have been feeling the pressure in the face of things
because they needed to act.
There is something magical about the idealism behind the gold mining business,
which is how anyone with proper research and hard work can pull it off and strike riches.
Mining and prospecting aren’t as big as it used to be,
but many still believe that there is a great deal of hidden treasure out there.
The entire cast of Gold Rush wanted to rest
until they can get every ounce of it.
While the series has centered on Parker Schneabel,
it also features other mine bosses like Tony Beats and Rick Ness.
Rick Ness debuted in the series back in season 3,
but it wasn’t until season 9 that he branched out of Parker Schnebbleās team to become a mine boss of his own.
Fans of Ness have stuck through him throughout all these years,
so they probably think they know all about his life,
but you will be surprised to learn the many untold truths about his life.
Rick Ness once thought about running for president in 2020.
It is not out of the ordinary to see celebrities get into politics,
but was Ness thinking about taking that step right now?
Ness certainly seemed to want to back when he took to Twitter in January of 2019
to announce his desire to run for the 2020 presidency.
āI am announcing my bid for the presidency of the United States for 2020.
Right now my platform and my messages grow up my party as I like to party.
I’ve heard GoFundMe is popular. I am going to need some financing.ā
He wrote plenty. Fans seemed supportive of Ness’s decision
both jokingly as well as on a serious note
and reassured him that they have his back.
āYou have my vote,ā read one comment.
āMake the Klondike great again,ā read another.
However, it did not matter if Rick’s followers were serious or not
because Rick certainly seemed to be joking.
He later deleted the tweet
and since also never once brought up the desire to run for presidency or politics in general.
Rick Nessās mother died of brain cancer in 2018.
Rick Ness went through a heartbreaking tragedy in March 2018, having lost his mother to brain cancer.
Ness, however, made sure to spend as much time as he possibly could
in the final moments of her life before she passed away.
He even had to leave midway through filming the corresponding season of Gold Rush
so he could be with her in her final moments.
Ness later took to Twitter to share the tragic news of his motherās death to his fans and followers,
writing, āMom, 55 years young. She left us peacefully in her house and with my face resting against her as she took her last breath.
It hurts. Cancer is the devil.ā
Rick Ness was a musician.
Before Ness joined Parker’s team, he only had experience handling large machinery
because before that he used to make his living as a musician.
He also had aspirations in playing football.
But an injury changed that.
He played Upright Bass and had his own band, 357 String Band,
which even released three albums along the seven years that they were active.
It was when the band was touring all over the nation,
and it stopped in Alaska,
that Ness met Parker Schnabel.
Ness talked to him and expressed his wish to come work for him
despite not having any mining experience.
Schneabel contacted him a year later to come join him in season 3, which he did.
And the rest, everyone knows.
He is a twin brother.
It is always fascinating to learn that anyone has a twin sibling.
Ness also happens to have one.
Although not identical, he has a fraternal twin brother.
Did you learn anything new about Rick Ness?
Tell us if we missed anything in the comments.
Thankfully, Tyler has been able to impress everyone with how competent she is with the loader.
As such, they are all happy to have her on board
because her ability to find gold may prove to be crucial to the team’s efforts that season.
As this was going on, Parker was out in the wilds of the outback
hoping that he could get a better handle on things as they were going at that point.
In time, you see, he too was searching for gold on one of Fitzgerald’s properties.
But unfortunately, Parker would find that his efforts would be stifled
because some of his equipment had gotten trapped when he tried to pull out several large pebbles from the ground.
This task proved to be problematic because his shovel had gotten stuck in the ground.
To be honest, Parker should have known better because his shovel was designed to dig through tiny pebbles,
not the large rocks that he had found on Fitzgerald’s property.
Looking for a solution, Parker turned one of his slit racks into a filter
that would help him catch the larger rocks before they messed up his machines once more.
Once this issue was sorted, Parker and his team got back to work.
This was all done so that he could see if there was enough gold in Eureka Creek.
If there was, maybe he and his team could mine there during the offseason.
Inquiries like this are why Parker and his crew are able to adapt
to the harsh conditions when they are mining out there in the outback.
As you observe Parker and his team, you’d find that they place a lot of value on the land that they were working on.
As they looked at the land underneath them, Parker and his team knew that it was much more valuable
than a lot of land that they had worked on in the past.
āEven without stripping it, there’s some more dirt, man. I’m working on it.ā
āYeah. And no matter what, there’s going to be a lot of uncertainty. But, um, we’ll make it work.
I think we got a bunch of people waiting to find out how we did.ā
Parker, in fact, came to believe
that the ground near Eureka Creek was the richest that he had ever seen or examined.
Looking for more ground to work on in the offseason, Parker decided to head down to the land down under
at least that way he and his team could remain occupied while the Yukon is still frozen over due to the winter.
Some good news came Parker’s way
when a local miner by the name of Ian Holland informed Parker that he loved to sell his lease to Parker.
Unfortunately though, Parker found that he was unable to examine the earth
to see how much gold was present because his excavator was experiencing some damage at the time.
As such, Parker found that he was worried that he may leave Australia
without finding out how valuable the land was.
Luckily, Ian seemed to be a proactive guy
because he realized that it would take too long for Parker to get spare parts for his faulty excavator.
As such, he decided that it was best that he brought his own excavator to the party.
This would help Parker pull off his strategy of finding all the areas that may have a lot of gold.
That was probably how he picked some of the favorable locations that he found in the Yukon and in other places.
Once he had done this, Parker found that he could mine there and make money consistently.
This takes us to Tyler and Fred,
who are making use of a TRL so that they could sift through the dirt
in order to catch the gold that may be in it.
As they went to work, they were a bit worried about their machine
because the last time that they tried to use it, it had some trouble getting started
as they fed the pay dirt into the machine.
They hoped that it would work smoothly
so that they could get all the gold that may be hiding within this dirt.
āSo, in the spring, we stripped this cut. When we were stripping it, we pushed into an old pond.
So essentially, what I’m trying to find is the toe of the pond. We’re looking for a lot of water flow here.
When I plugged this off, it was flowing like a river with this going on.ā
There is every hope that Parker may be happy about what he sees when they are all done.
After all, he couldn’t be mad if they were able to get a lot of gold from the soil.
On the other hand though, if they weren’t able to get a lot of gold,
Parker and the team may have to find some new sort of strategy
if they were going to make the most out of their time in the mines.
Despite all these thoughts running through their heads,
the team couldn’t help but dream about all the gold that they may find.
While they were at work in the mines, sure, gold mining may feel like you found treasure.
But do not be fooled. Gold mining is not an easy process at all.
In fact, it is probably more similar to gambling than it is to searching for treasure.
One day, gold miners could sift through all the dirt that they could find all day, only to come away with nothing but mud.
On some other days, though, one may come across a rich vein of gold
that could be enough to change one’s fortune forever.
As such, one would find that the procedure for finding gold in these mines
is as thorough and as methodical as one could imagine.
To begin with, the mats are placed underneath the sluices so that gold can be trapped there.
To make sure it works well, Parker and his team wash the mats
before separating the gold from the rest of the material in order to get all the gold that they can.
Parker and the rest of the team use a pen-like tool
to carefully pick out all the gold that they could find in the mat.
As you can imagine, this is exciting for the team
because the task of discovering gold is not easy at all.
Remember, these guys could either find all the gold that could change their lives forever
or they could find out that they had just spent many hours and even more resources
just digging up tons of dirt in dusty mines.
āAwesome, buddy. I’ll keep feeding the beast.
I can smell the gold in this stuff. It smells like money, baby.ā
Despite the fear of coming away with nothing, they continue to work as hard as possible
because they know that if they can make it, they would never regret it.
As time went on, Parker and the rest of the team were excited
because they were able to find about $40 worth of gold in just one yard of dirt.
Just imagine how much gold they may be able to find
if they were able to explore the entire plot of land that may be at their disposal.
Surely, this was even more than what the team found in the Yukon.
Thankfully, Parker has those two wash plants with them.
He was sure that everything would run smoothly.
And if that actually happens, they may be able to set targets
that may see them extract more than 350 ounces of gold per week.
So far, they were halfway there,
as they would be able to collect 162.5 oz of gold that week thanks to Big Red.
That meant that they had made about $195,000.
That wasn’t so bad, right?
Well, that was not all, because the team soon found that Slooifer was able to help them collect 22.25 oz of gold.
That meant that they were able to extract 375 oz of gold that week.
As they looked at the gold that was valued at about $250,000,
the team realized that they were doing better than their rival team,
headed by the gold mining veteran Tony Beats.
They had only been able to collect about 28.765 oz of gold so far that week,
and this was like music to Parker’s ears.
Be that as it may, Parker still had his mind on a personal goal:
the collection of at least 70 ounces of gold from Big Red every day or so.
To his amazement, instead of getting that 70 ounces, he almost tripled this target
when he came across 199.95 oz of gold.
As you can guess, the entire team was excited about their achievements.
This was just like earlier on when they were able to get about 450 ounces of gold.
To take this further, the team was able to extract a handsome haul of about 232 oz of gold.
The next week, this level of consistency helped them get almost up to $300,000 that week.
As such, one can see how people like Parker may not want to take their feet off the pedal
as they powered through with their search for gold.
That is why nobody can really be surprised
when Parker set a lofty target of 6,000 ounces of gold for that season.
For him to achieve this, he was hoping that Slooifer would be able to help them extract at least 88 oz of gold.
To their delight, the team could not contain their excitement
when Slooifer helped them extract 321.50 oz of gold from the soil.
That is almost up to four times the amount of gold that they were hoping to extract from the mines.
As you can imagine, this was a great surprise for Parker and his team.
They were definitely having a purple patch.
With this in mind, the team continued with their work.
This proved to be another week of greatness
because in the following week they were able to extract 266.65 oz of gold from the mines,
despite the fact that they were 70 off their initial target.
They must have experienced some relief
when they realized that it would be able to help the team get their hands on about $320,000.
Well, they would not have to worry too much about not meeting their targets
because their other wash plant helped them surpass their previous results for the week
by extracting 350.35 oz of gold from the mines.
This meant that they were able to make about $420,000 from this haul.
244.60 got a lot of tip on that thing.
801.00, 100 and 2100 and 415.70, all 229.5 in total.
The team had been able to extract about 670 ounces of gold that week.
Interestingly, this meant that they were just 1 shy of meeting Parker’s career record of gold extraction for the week.
But no harm, because the next week they would be able to continue with this level of consistency
as they were able to extract about 44.6 oz.
This puts even more money in the teamās hands,
as this gold haul was worth about $485,000.
As great as all this money was for the team, one would find
that the team was also really excited
because this latest gold haul saw that they had exceeded their 6,000 oz of gold target for the season.
Now that is something worth celebrating.
Not only did they meet their target for the season,
but somehow they had also been able to surpass it.
This is despite the fact that they had to deal with so many problems,
such as the faulty conveyor belt that Big Red had to endure earlier on.
And thankfully, the team had remained dedicated to their cause.
So, they were able to achieve a level of consistency
that saw them overcome many of the challenges that presented themselves to the team.
As they continued to search for gold thanks to this level of consistency,
the team has now been able to achieve financial success
while also being able to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Because they were able to achieve their goals
while still struggling with the difficulties that may present themselves in the world of mining.
Now Parker can laugh and make merry
as they celebrate extracting nearly 7,500 ounces of gold that season.
That wasn’t enough for the team,
who went on to extract more than 1,000 ounces of gold in the subsequent week or so.
As far as the season goes, the final total was 7,738.1 ounces.
That is unreal,
thereby representing their biggest cleanup ever.
Hopefully, in the years to come,
they will be able to continue with this level of gold mining.
Let us see what the future holds for these gold miners.
From having to overcome several challenges dealing with the equipment
so that they could meet their lofty target for the season
to eventually shocking the world with how much gold they eventually extract from the mines in Alaska.
Here’s how Parker Schnebel and his team blew our minds
with their recent gold rush discoveries.
