Sig's Crew Races To Break The Ice As The Northwestern Freezes Over! | Deadliest Catch

Let’s go.
I’m heading north, and uh… it’s a lot of ground to cover.
I mean — what is that — 300 miles.

Getting a lot of spray.
It’s just going to get worse.

The one thing about fishing out west,
the way we did,
and taking those risks,
is that you know you’ve got to pay for it.

We had a lot of expenses.
A lot more fuel.
A lot more bait.
And so we’ll see…
you know… what this brings.

We’ll just go easy like this.
I’m seriously seeing snow now.
Supposed to get better.
Let me see.

If we don’t break this ice off,
we’re going to get too heavy.
We’re going to sink.
And I don’t want to sink out here.

100 lb.

I mean, I’d like to keep heading north,
but the ice—
check this out.

Whoa.

That’s not going to work for us.
There’s ice already building back there.
It’s just too much right now.
It’s just going to keep building.

Okay guys—
we’re going to start setting.
Going to go with it.
So just watch the rail.

Roger.
Roger.

Here.

I’m going to turn right now
and head to the south
and get this weather behind us
and then start setting where I don’t want to go.
But we don’t have a choice.

We’ve got to get the pots off the boat.
This wasn’t the game plan,
but I mean… weather’s in charge.

You never know, man.
The crab could be anywhere.
Maybe this stuff is going to find crab.
Only time will tell, huh?

There it is.
Yeah baby.

Well, we didn’t get to set where we wanted to—
at least with half the gear.
But you know…
we’ll see what’s in them.

See if we can’t find some big beardai,
because time is of the essence.

Spots up.
Coming at you.

Moment of truth.

Not much.
This is coming up very poor.

Oh no.

I’d like to blame it on sand fleas—
but I can’t.

Eighteen.

You know, beardai is tricky though.
There’s schools and piles.
You’re kind of spot-fishing, so to speak.
But once you get in them—
it’s big, huh?

How the hell do I see two
where there’s supposed to be one?

Obviously, it got tangled up
with the one after it.

Not sure how we’re going to pull this in.

Be careful.

Got her.
You got it.

Yeah. Hold on.
Here— pull back
and I’ll grab another one.

When you’ve got gear that’s tangled up,
a lot of times,
they don’t fish well.

There we go.

First pot’s up.
See what’s in it.

Oh crap.
Got it.
There’s crab in that one.

That’s good crab.
That’s way good crab.
Eighty-five. Ninety-nine.

That’s tremendous.

All is slow.
It could be damaged.
Roger.

There’s probably nothing in this pot,
’cause the pots were right next to each other.

And the crab—
there’s crab in that.

I guess I don’t know everything after all.

These are good numbers.

Hold on.
Did you see that?

Two pots that close together.
Both big.
Everything going in.

It’s a sign.

Maybe we go side-by-side on the launcher.
They might not tangle.
Might.

You’re serious?

All right— make it happen.

All right.
We’ll get it rigged up.
