Fans are shocked to learn that Gold Rush star Juan Ibarra is leaving!
A lot of the Gold Rush fans were dying to know a little more about Juan Ibarra from Gold Rush. So we are here with everything you should know about him.
Despite only attaining this level of notoriety starting from his Gold Rush debut in season 6, Juan Ibarra has managed to become a household name.
Ibarra was actually born into a family of plumbers on April 2nd, 1983, in Reno, Nevada. His family reportedly owned and operated Ibarra Drain Services there, and according to his LinkedIn, Ibarra still runs his 2004-founded Nibbra Industries out of Nevada.
However, we have it on authentic record that Juan Ibarra sacrificed it all in a career change when he moved to central Alaska to go mining. One day, his brother-in-law, Aaron Pena, showed him a job offer from Gold Rush and encouraged him to apply for the position of mechanic. Aaron was a big fan of the show and was overly excited to have Juan apply — and then get accepted. It all just kind of fell into place after that.
“It was a weird way that it came to be — just a lucky thing. It was a good fit from the start. The crew is a great crew to work with. It was really a great experience,” Juan shared.
He began initially working for Todd Hoffman, fixing and maintaining big equipment like excavators, dozers, and trucks. Juan received the important responsibility of looking after the mine’s infamous wash plant named Monster Red. Later, he began working for Tony Beets and, over the years, has lent his skills and expertise to many other mine bosses on the show.
Distractify reported that Juan Ibarra left the series and did not return for season 11. However, he did make an appearance in a single episode of Gold Rush in season 11 — the episode titled Freddy 2: The Rescue — as also credited on IMDb. So, he likely did not leave the show entirely but may have had reasons or circumstances that prevented him from appearing more.
The reason for his growing popularity is that he has also appeared in many more spin-offs. He was part of the spin-off Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine and appeared in 2021 on Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge’s Mine Rescue.
Perhaps all his TV exploits and business ventures are what have led to Juan Ibarra having such a large net worth, estimated to be around $6 million as of 2021.
With little time left, let us turn to his personal life. Although there is not much publicly known about that aspect of his biography, Juan is married to his longtime wife, Andrea Ibarra, and they have two children together — a daughter, Addison Maria Ibarra, and a son, Wanito Ibarra.
