Keith Races To Save Jake’s Crew In Deadly Ocean Rescue After Emergency Evacuation | Deadliest Catch
Any vessels in the area? Or was there standing by on 16?
[Music]
I’ve got a position on that b-day. Come on, Keith.
Titan Explorer. I don’t know if they’re in the water or on the boat, or if they made it all to the raft yet. I’m not sure. I don’t know if they’re going to get there in time right now. I don’t know much more than where his last position was. So we’re going to be the first ones there. I have nothing else to go on.
Four hours ago, a toxic ammonia leak on the fishing vessel Titan Explorer triggered a cascade of system failures and a worrying starboard list. At risk of capsizing, Captain Jake Anderson and all eight souls aboard were forced to abandon ship.
“It looks like we’ve got a Good Samaritan coming as well. But still, we’re going to be the first ones there. Let’s go, go, go.”
“We’re getting really close to where Jake’s position was. There’s no lights on my horizon, though. There’s nothing up here.”
“Tell me, Randy.”
“Give me a second. Come on. Wait a second. I’ve got a target. I’ve got a target. I’ve got something.”
“Right on.”
“Hey, I’ve got a blip on the radar. There’s definitely a boat up here. Keep a sharp eye out for anything. Anything whatsoever.”
“Jeff, turn the lights off.”
“Okay, I’m learning the bow. Come on. Hurry up.”
[Music]
“We should be getting a visual any minute now. Right ahead. B600Y. 600Y. All right.”
“Okay, I got him, guys. I got him. Titan Explorer, Wizard—pick me up.”
03:10
“Jake, do you pick me up? That boat’s still dead. It’s been four hours. If you’re smelling ammonia, let me know immediately.”
“Okay.”
“Everybody go in the boat. No, I don’t see anything. Master boat’s just floating by itself. There’s not a single light on. It’s like a ghost ship.”
“Can you smell it?”
“Oh, really? Mine smells like bleach, right?”
“Worse than that.”
“Boat’s got a pretty sizable list right now. There’s water spilling out of the tanks, but I don’t see anything else. No sign of the raft yet. Keep your eyes peeled. There’s a raft out here somewhere.”
04:23
“Roger that. Roger.”
[Music]
“Nothing. See anything?”
“In four hours, that raft could be five, six miles from here.”
[Music]
“Straight ahead. There’s a rock.”
[Applause]
“Yeah. Got a light. 1:00. 1:00.”
“All right. We got it.”
“All right. I got it. I got the light now, guys. Thank you. I’m heading that way.”
“OJ, just keep your eye on it, please.”
“All right. Roger.”
“Do you see anybody at all?”
“I see nobody. The gym is closed.”
“Hello. How you doing? I don’t see anyone. See if you can hook that line. There’s a line hanging off it.”
“Okay.”
“Hello? You guys in there? Hello?”
“I got it. I got it.”
“J—somebody. Somebody. Tie it off. Tie it off. Come on, guys.”
“Okay, come in. Unzip the thing.”
[Applause]
“Be careful, Mig.”
[Music]
“Come on, man. Come on. Get him. Nice.”
“All right. I got my hand right under.”
[Music]
“We got one, two, three, four. We got another one. Where’s the money? Where’s the money? Where’s Jake at?”
“Where’s Jake?”
“Inside. Right here.”
“Just go inside. Just get him in.”
08:12
“Give me some water. Give me some water, please. Water. Water. Come. Come. Give me some.”
“Hey, do we have everybody?”
“We have everybody.”
“Okay.”
“Stop. Stop. Stop. Please. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Relax. Breathe. Go get that oxygen.”
“How are you guys doing?”
“All right. Thank you.”
“Okay, Jake. Jake. Look at me. We got you guys. That’s all that matters right now. Okay? We’ve got your team.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
[Music]
“Oh my god. I don’t know what happened. We got in the raft and tied it off and then next thing you know, we’re drifting out to sea. My radio died. What a ride. Holy cow. What a ride. We made it though.”
