Kevin Beets’ Crew has Two New Members | GOLD RUSH SEASON 15
Kevin Beets is officially stepping out of the shadow of his legendary father, Tony Beets, to create a legacy of his own in Gold Rush Season 15.
After 22 years of working under Tony’s command, Kevin has taken on the monumental task of leading his own mining operation at Scrivener Creek, 3 miles east of Tony’s established claim.
With the support of his partner Faith and a newly assembled crew, Kevin embarks on a journey full of ambition, challenges, and the hope of striking it big — a new chapter for Kevin Beets.
“Let’s do the thing — chicken wings!” Kevin kicks off this new venture with his signature humor and optimism.
For Kevin, this season is more than just another mining operation — it’s a chance to showcase his leadership skills and carve out his identity as a mine boss.
Unlike the rigid, high-pressure environment of Tony’s operation, Kevin aims to foster a workplace that balances productivity with a positive atmosphere.
“We’re starting a new mine, and I’m really hoping to run it a little bit different than what we’ve dealt with in the past,” Kevin shares during the team’s first meeting.
“You don’t have to like it, but I really don’t want you to dread it.”
The goal for the season is clear: extract 1,000 ounces of gold before the harsh Yukon winter halts their progress.
But reaching that milestone will require not only hard work, but also seamless teamwork and careful maintenance of their borrowed equipment.
Assembling the Dream Team
Kevin and Faith have handpicked a crew that brings a mix of experience and fresh energy.
Foreman Brennan Ralt, a familiar face from past seasons, is tasked with overseeing the cut and ensuring the team stays on track.
For Brennan, this new role is an opportunity to advance in the mining world:
“When Kevin and Faith called and asked if I’d like to be the foreman, it lifted my spirits,” he says.
“I want to move up the ladder, and they seem right on board with offering me that opportunity.”
Operating the heavy equipment is Matt Cafir, who’s thrilled to be back in the mining game.
“I’ve been trying to do this for years,” he shares. “Brennan gave us a call and asked if I wanted to come up. It’s awesome to be moving dirt again — hopefully there’s a boatload of gold underneath.”
Adding a dose of youthful enthusiasm is rookie Hunter Cannon, whose TikTok videos caught the attention of Kevin and Faith.
The transition from a government job to the rugged Yukon might seem drastic to some, but for Hunter, it feels natural.
“It was a freaking cool opportunity that landed in my hand,” she explains.
“I’m used to this environment. I’m building my house in the woods, so this is perfect.”
The Reality of Borrowed Equipment
While Kevin’s optimism is contagious, the reality of running a new mining operation comes with its challenges — especially when using equipment borrowed from Tony’s operation.
Old and unreliable machinery has already caused delays, and the team can’t afford any more setbacks.
Early in the season, Hunter’s rock truck struggles up a hill — the vehicle spins out and fails to gain traction, prompting Matt to radio in with a concern:
“Kevin, I hear some air leaking noises under the truck. The diff lock isn’t working. We’re going to have to call Kevin and hope it’s not a bad fix.”
The differential lock, critical for maintaining traction in muddy conditions, is found to have busted air lines.
Kevin steps in to fix the issue and doesn’t hold back his frustration:
“A lot of this is Tony not fixing things, so when it finally gets to me and it grenades, it’s now my problem.
It’s like Tony’s floppy seconds — not even floppy seconds, just trash.”
Thankfully, the repair is quick, allowing the team to get back to work.
“Luckily, this one is a quick fix,” Kevin remarks.
“This is just Tony not doing his job, so that’s not surprising at all.”
Leading with a Fresh Perspective
Kevin’s approach to leadership is refreshing and distinct from his father’s.
“This is what I thought being a mine boss would be like. It’s the exact same as Tony’s operation — I just don’t have anybody I need to double-check with,” he jokes.
By prioritizing open communication and mutual respect, Kevin creates an environment where his crew feels valued and motivated.
He encourages his team to speak up if they notice anything unusual with the equipment and stresses the importance of maintaining the borrowed machinery.
For rookie Hunter, the experience has been nothing short of life-changing.
“People think I’m crazy for leaving a government job, but I’m building my house in the woods — so this is perfect for me,” she says with a smile.
The Road Ahead
The stakes are high as Kevin’s crew tackles their first major task — stripping the initial 3 acres of the cut by the end of the week.
With snow looming on the horizon, time is of the essence.
Despite the hurdles, Kevin remains focused on his ultimate goal of mining 1,000 oz of gold.
“This is our first season with a green crew, and I want to get as much gold as possible before the snow starts flying,” he says.
While the challenges are daunting, Kevin’s determination and his crew’s dedication offer a glimpse of hope.
As the team moves dirt and overcomes obstacles, one thing is clear — Kevin Beets is ready to prove that he’s not just Tony Beets’ son.
He’s a mine boss in his own right.
