Sheriff Mike’s Massive Resident Alien Season 4 Revelation Hilariously Pays Off One Of His Very First Lines In The Entire Show

Corey Reynolds looking confused as Mike Thompson in Resident Alien

Corey Reynolds has played Sheriff Mike Thompson since Resident Alien began, and one of the character’s most recent and pivotal revelations quietly references one of his first lines in the sci-fi dramedy. Mike discovers something in season 4, episode 8, “Mine Town,” that changes the show’s formula before Resident Alien ends for good.

Mike’s discovery will invariably alter how Mike interacts with another of Resident Alien‘s best characters, and the show actually planted the seed for this big reveal back in 2021. As a core member of the Resident Alien cast throughout the show’s run, Reynold’s character has been an intriguing blend of painfully insightful while also shockingly blind to the truth.

Mike Finding Out Harry Is An Alien Feels Like A Reference To The Sheriff’s Immediate Suspicion Of Tudyk’s Character In The Pilot

Corey Reynolds’ Character Spotted The Signs Early On (But Ignored Them)

One of Resident Alien season 4’s biggest twists has been Mike admitting that he now believes in aliens after his recent encounter with one of the Greys. Now that he’s also encountered the Mantid, Mike’s world seems to be growing exponentially on an episode-by-episode basis. He’s now even aware that Alan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderspeigle is an alien.

In Resident Alien‘s first ever episode, Mike and the other town leaders summon Harry to Patience to assist them in their investigation into the death of Dr. Sam Hodges (Jan Bos).

In Resident Alien‘s first ever episode, Mike and the other town leaders summon Harry to Patience to assist them in their investigation into the death of Dr. Sam Hodges (Jan Bos). Harry’s appraisal of the crime scene is, to put it lightly, unconventional. He describes it as “awesome” and seems inappropriately enticed by the mystery.

That’s one creepy son of a b*tch, right? That ain’t just me, right? Y’all see that, right?

– Sheriff Mike in Resident Alien season 1, episode 1, “Pilot.”

Despite Harry’s off-beat behavior, no one but Mike draws that much attention to how Tudyk’s character conducts himself during the scene. He openly refers to Harry as a “creepy son of a b*tch once the disguised alien has left the room, while everyone else present keeps largely to themselves about what had just happened.

Mike’s Harry Discovery Taking Place After Everyone Else Makes The Twist Even Better

Harry’s Secret Reached Mike (& Liv) Last

Harry and Mike in Resident Alien

Despite Mike’s initial suspicions regarding Harry, he quickly moves on to accept the strange behavior without much question. As others in Patience gradually start to learn about the existence of aliens, Mike’s immovable belief system regarding extraterrestrial life makes him pretty much immune to all evidence to the contrary. That said, even Mike is forced to admit defeat in season 4.

Resident Alien keeps finding new ways to shake up its brilliant formula, and “Soul Providers” just pulled it off again in a very exciting twist.

The partnership of Mike and Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) means they both discover Harry is an alien at the same time, making them the last two of the show’s main characters to do so. After Mike’s very early line that tried to raise red flags about Harry, it’s especially amusing that he’s one of the last Resident Alien characters to get to work this out.
