The Curse Of Oak Island Season 13! Could It Be The Last?

The Curse Of Oak Island Season 13! Could It Be The Last?

>> Greetings, everyone, and welcome to the Freeman Files.
With Tom Burns and Jeff here with you — uh, JFree 906 podcast channel.

Thank you guys for joining us here.
We got some news that we wanted to partake with everyone.
So, we thought it’d be a good time to jump on and talk.

>> Tom, how you doing up there?
I’m doing great.
And I want to say hello to our people watching from Europe —
who can actually watch us live and not have to stay up until three in the morning.

Yes, that’s the beauty of doing a news at noon.
We got more opportunity for people to watch that are not in the U.S.
or Canada.

All right — well, thank you folks for joining us here today.
We appreciate it very much.

And the big announcement, of course, is that The Curse of Oak Island TV show starts in 20 days.
Twenty days, Tom.

>> And we hope in 25 days in Canada.
Yeah — yeah, yeah, you guys haven’t heard yet, right?

>> We haven’t heard yet, but that’s not unusual.
I think it was like two weeks before last year before we actually got the announcement.

Yeah — so, Skinwalker Ranch is still playing their season here,
so that’s gotta kind of wind down.

Oh, okay, good — well, I’m glad you guys get to check that out.

So yeah, the announcement was put out Tuesday, November 4th at 9:00 —
for those of us here in the U.S.

So, we’ll be watching that.
That’s twenty days from today,
and we will be on here — Tom and I and Seth,
and we’ll have a few others — Colin will join us from time to time
and some other special guests will be joining us here
on Wednesday nights throughout the entire season
at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

We’ll be talking about each and every episode.
So, I’m excited.

I think that, you know, with Season 13 —
you think, “Oh boy, is this the lucky 13?”
And I always think of 13 as being a lucky number, not a bad number.

>> To some people, it is lucky 13,
but I think as we go through the promo,
you’re going to see a new level of determination.

Not only determination — but some finds.
Now we know that this promo that was just put out,
that we all watched,
is for the entire season — not just the first episode.
So keep that in mind.

It was a good promo.

>> There could be some lost leaders in here too,
and there could be some stuff you’re never going to see again.

Yes indeed.
And we — yeah, well I’ll tell you what, let’s just —
let’s just go through it,
‘cause we’ve only watched this what, about 35 times now?

>> Yeah. Maybe it was 13 times.
Yeah, maybe it was 13 times.

So, it was a good promo.
I really enjoyed it.
Had a lot of good stuff.
So — let the speculation begin.

Indeed, with the speculation department here.
Got my notes ready.
Let’s jump into it, shall we?

Here’s a look at what will supposedly be the first episodes:
The Comeback,
Billion Dollar Baby (episode number two),
Medieval Intentions,
and The Smoking Gun.

>> You can tie all three of those together, can’t you?
You kind of can, yeah.

Got a billion dollars’ worth of gold laying at the bottom of the baby blob, right?
And who put it there?
Could’ve been the Templars — the smoking gun.

Whatever they dig up,
there’s supposed to be some pretty significant finds.

>> That was one of the most exciting things about the whole promo.
And I know you and I were both thinking,
“Oh, here we go — something big’s coming.”

Yeah — and they had some serious shots there,
like when the camera panned across the Money Pit.
You could see the tension.
You could feel it.

>> That’s when Rick said, “We’re closer than ever before.”
Exactly.
And when Rick says that —
you know it’s not just for the camera.

He’s not the type to hype.
If he’s saying that, something’s definitely been uncovered.

>> You noticed the tone too, right?
Not just excitement — but confidence.
Like they know something’s down there now.

Yeah.
And then Marty — oh man, when Marty’s standing by that drill rig,
and he says,
“If this data’s right,
then this changes everything.

That line gave me chills.
They’ve been at this for over a decade,
and to hear Marty Lagina say that —
you know we’re talking about something major.

>> It’s the same energy they had back in Season 5,
when they hit the H-8 shaft.

Exactly.
That same nervous excitement —
like history is right beneath their boots.

And when they showed that scene of the sonar scan —
you could see the outline of something metallic down there.
I don’t care what anyone says —
that’s not a rock formation.

>> No — it looked too geometric.
Perfect corners.
Edges.
You don’t get that naturally in a glacial till.

No way.
And when they flashed that one frame —
the one that looked like a chamber or a box?
That could’ve been the vault they’ve always theorized about.

>> Yeah, the treasure vault.
Exactly.
And notice how quick they cut away from it?
That’s deliberate.
Classic Oak Island editing —
give you a glimpse,
then leave you hanging for 10 episodes.

(laughs)
True.
But still — the technology they’re using this year looks way beyond what we’ve seen before.

>> Oh, absolutely.
They’ve got those new ground-penetrating radar arrays,
and it looks like they’re working with that European scan team again.
Those guys are top-tier.

Yeah, and I think we’re finally seeing them integrate
archaeological science with engineering precision.
That’s a game-changer.

>> You think they’ll dig the Garden Shaft again?
I do.
In fact, I think they’re expanding that whole area.
You saw those wide shots —
multiple cranes,
new rigs,
and what looked like a temporary platform.

That’s not just maintenance —
that’s a full-scale dig.

>> I caught that too.
And they had water pumps going 24/7.
That means they’re into something deep.

Exactly.
If they’re draining again,
that’s always the sign that something big’s below.
The last time they did that —
they found those wooden tunnels.

>> Yeah, those hand-hewn timbers — 1700s, right?
Yup.
And remember the metal artifact they found wedged between them?
That rectangular piece they thought might’ve been part of a chest fitting?

>> Oh yeah, and they sent that to Dr. Spooner for analysis.
Right.
And he said it was definitely pre-industrial era.
Hand-forged.
Which puts it at least before 1800.

That alone was huge.

Now combine that with what we saw in the promo —
Marty holding that small metal object
and saying, “This shouldn’t even exist here.”
That’s the kind of quote that sets off alarms.

>> You think it’s another cross?
Could be.
The Templar Cross 2.0.
(laughs)
Or maybe something even older.

They did say “medieval intentions.”
That title’s not random.

>> Yeah, that episode name hit me too.
‘Medieval Intentions.’
That screams Templar or early European presence.

Absolutely.
And you noticed in the teaser they showed that parchment fragment again?
Same style — same texture —
but looked like there was writing this time.

>> Yeah — Latin script maybe?
Or some kind of coded text.

Could be.
They’ve got Dr. Krista Brousseau back,
and she’s been phenomenal at breaking down material composition.
If she’s in the lab that much,
something important’s on that table.

And the way they ended the promo —
Rick looking out over the island at sunset —
that’s the “we found something” look.

>> Yeah — that quiet moment.
You can tell he’s holding back a smile.

Exactly.
That’s not frustration — that’s reflection.
You can feel that shift in tone this season.

Something’s coming.
Something major.

>> Yeah, and you notice — they didn’t over-edit it this time.
No excessive cuts,
no dramatized sound effects.
Just genuine excitement.
That’s how you know the team’s confident.

Exactly.
When they don’t have to hype it —
that’s when something real is happening.

>> And the tone across the whole cast was different.
Even Marty seemed lighter,
less skeptical.
You can tell he’s all in now.

Yeah — he’s usually the numbers guy,
but you can see in his eyes —
he’s not just chasing cost versus reward anymore.
He wants closure.

>> That’s right.
After twelve seasons —
they’ve put everything into this island.
You don’t spend that long without believing in something.

Exactly.
And I think that’s why Season 13 feels so important.
It’s not just another year —
it’s the culmination.
The energy feels final.
Or at least… transitional.

>> Like they’re on the edge of an answer.
Yes — the threshold moment.
And I think fans can feel that too.

Speaking of fans —
I’ve never seen the Oak Island community this fired up before.
You go on the forums,
the Discord groups,
the Facebook pages —
people are dissecting that promo frame by frame.

>> Oh, they are.
Someone even color-corrected one shot of the sonar
and claims they can see the outline of a treasure chest.
(laughs)
That’s dedication.

Yeah, and another guy compared the tunnel map
to 14th-century mining diagrams from France.
He thinks there’s a direct link.

>> I saw that!
And he traced the pattern —
almost identical.
That’s wild.

It really is.
That’s the fun of this show —
the mystery pulls everyone in.
It’s not just about treasure;
it’s about connection —
history, humanity,
the drive to uncover what’s been buried.

>> Yeah — the legacy.
That’s why Rick keeps saying,
“It’s not about the gold.
It’s about the story.”

Exactly.
And maybe this year,
they’ll finally get both.

>> So, November 4th — mark your calendars.
We’ll be right here,
Wednesday nights,
breaking down every clue,
every discovery,
and every jaw-drop moment.

We’ll have guests,
we’ll have theories,
and probably a few wild guesses too.
(laughs)

>> Oh, definitely.
And maybe — just maybe —
we’ll finally get that moment
we’ve all been waiting for.

Yeah — the vault.
The chamber.
The proof.
Whatever it is —
we’ll see it together.

>> All right, Jeff — any last words before we wrap this up?
Just — thank you, everyone.
Thanks for being here.
Thanks for sticking with this mystery all these years.
This community makes it all worthwhile.

>> Well said.
And remember —

stay curious,
stay patient,
and as always…
keep digging.
